Football Academy

Cirencester College has its very own Football Academy which focusses on the development of talented footballers. Football training is integrated into the student’s timetable ensuring that academia and sport go hand-in-hand.

Academy students can choose from the same wealth of courses available to all students at Cirencester College as part of their programme.

Can I still play football when I join Cirencester College?

For students who don’t take their football quite as seriously and would like to just play football for fun, or a 5-a-side game, or just a kick around, there is still an opportunity to do this through our enrichment programme..

How much training is involved with the Cirencester College Football Academy?

The programme includes two weekly training sessions, a competitive fixture in the AOC college leagues, and a strength and conditioning session.

Do the Football Academy play competitive football?

The teams do take part in competitive football, the boys teams take part in:

  • 1st team – AOC West Midlands Category 2 Premier League
  • 2nd Team – AOC West Midlands Category 2
  • Cup competitions (ESFA Colleges’ Trophy, English Colleges’ Cup & Glos County)

Where have previous Football Academy students progressed to?

Previous Cirencester College Football students are currently in:

  • Careers in professional football and semi-professional football
  • Football refereeing
  • Further and Higher Education competing in University football BCS leagues
  • Full-time work in sports and/or leisure related areas
  • Football coaching worldwide
  • Overseas scholarships in the USA
  • 22 players have gained international honours in both British Colleges and British School teams.

Does Cirencester College have a Girls Football Academy?

The Girls Football Academy enjoy the same excellent training and coaching as the boys teams.

Meeting twice a week for training and playing in the BCS Cat 3 Women’s League for matches on Wednesday afternoons, the team is open to female students from across the College from all programmes of study and training will fit into the timetable the same as the boys academy.
